Haz la U Scholarship – ($2,500-$15,000 - December 31)
As part of its commitment to the Hispanic Community, Colgate-palmolive's scholarship program, "Haz La U" ("Make the U"), aims to provide eligible high school seniors with the opportunity to pursue higher education levels. Students may apply for one of eleven educational grants that will be awarded on a competitive basis for: a one-time $15,000 scholarship award for the top recipient & a one-time $2,500 scholarship award for 10 additional recipients.

The Gates Millennium Scholar Scholarship (Full tuition scholarship - Due January 10)
GMS will select 1,000 talented students to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they: Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American; Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States; Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED; Complete multiple essays and receive in-depth teacher/counselor nominations

Dell Scholars Program ($20,000 per yr. and more - Due January 15)
Northeastern University's (in MA!) Torch Scholarship (Full tuition - Jan. 15)
Monmouth Midwest Scholars Program ($25,000/yr. - due Feb. 1)
Awarded to three to five first-time freshmen per year, the Midwest Scholars Award recognizes exceptional students who have an interest studying in the Midwest. Each recipient earns a $25,000 scholarship that is renewable for up to three additional years as long as the student maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA. More information

The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship program at Illinois State University ($10,000/yr. - Due: unkown)
This NSF scholarship seeks to encourage talented science and mathematics majors and/or professionals to become K-12 teachers in the Chicago Public Schools.

HSF/General College Scholarships - ($1,000-$5,000 – Due December 15)
HSF/General College Scholarships are designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to students who meet the following requirements: Be of Hispanic heritage; Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or visa; Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Riceland Rice Scholarship Program ($2000 - Due February 15)
In order to be considered for one of twenty two, two thousand dollar cash awards, each competitor must be a high school senior and complete an essay that answers the following question: “How do I believe my studies in college will change my life?” To be eligible you must reside in, and/or attend high school in the metro areas of: New York/ New Jersey, Chicago, Miami Dade and Broward Counties, Los Angeles and Orange County, or San Francisco/San Jose.

Abott and Fenner Scholarships ($1,000 - TBD)
Trinity College in Hartford, Conneticut offers Illinois students the "Lincoln Award", a full ride 4-year scholarship. This is a merit based scholarship that covers all tuition, fees, room, board and book allowance. Submit yoyur application to Trinity College by January 1 in order to be eligible for this scholarship.
Eastern Michigan University also provides scholarships for Illinois residents. The National Scholars Program pays the difference between resident and non-resident tuition (about $13,000 a year). Students need at least a 3.0 GPA and 20 or higher on the ACT. Must apply to EMU.
Princeton Prize in Race Relations: This program is for students grades 9-12 who are doing outstanding work in their schools or communities to advance the cause of race relations. To apply for the $1,000 cash reward, go to www.princeton.edu/PrincetonPrize
