Chicago Coalition for Homeless Scholarship ($1000/yr - Due May 2)

Since 2004, the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless has awarded $2,000 college scholarships to students who have experienced homelessness. Applications, including two references, must be submitted to CCH by Monday, May 2, 2011

Those who are eligible:
* Seniors graduating this June from a Chicago public high school
* Former student clients of the CCH Law Project who are graduating this spring from a suburban district

All applicants must have experienced homelessness at some point during high school.
Scholarship winners also are eligible for renewal scholarships of at least $1,000 a year as they earn their bachelor's degree. Winners must be present to receive the scholarship during an awards ceremony held in July.  Private donors fund the scholarships, including the Osa Foundation and the Student Alliance for Homeless Youth, a group comprised of students from eight North Shore high schools.  Students can access the application form on the home page of the CCH website (left-hand column). For questions, contact paralegal Claire Lombardo at (312) 527-2673 or via email at claire@chicagohomeless.org
