- This scholarship is for legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry.
- To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled college students who are enrolled in the fall 2013 semester at a two- or four-year accredited college or university that is located in the United States and is listed on the official website of the US Department of Education.
- To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit an 200- to 400-word essay on the subject, "If you were an insect, what insect would you be and why?"
