There's a whole world of health care careers out there and Discovering Health Care Careers at Children's Memorial Hospital is a GREAT way to learn more about that world!
Program consists of:
• a full day at the hospital from 8:30 a.m. -3:00 p.m.
• morning sessions with a mix of live presentations and videos which will introduce you to most areas of the hospital
• lunch will be provided in the hospital’s cafeteria
• afternoons, you will shadow a health care professional in a variety of departments during the six weeks
• you will receive a stipend of $1,000 for full participation
Program Requirements/applicant must:
• have a minimum grade point average of 2.75/4.0 scale
• be at least 17 years of age by June 23, 2010
• have a Social Security number
• be Latino and bilingual in Spanish & English
You must submit the following to the GEAR UP staff in room 207 in order to be eligible for an interview:
• TWO letters of recommendation
• a 2-page essay with one page addressing your college goals & one page addressing your professional/career goals
• submit an official copy of high school transcripts with grades and their vaccination records
OPTIONAL: If you have a résumé, please submit it as supporting documentation to your application
