NEW Scholarships - updated (many due May 1st)!

Josefina A. Ovalle Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship is awarded to Chicagoland Latino students who excel in the realm of service, academics and leadership. The number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the funds available. Josefina A. Ovalle (1937-2003) was a woman who believed in service to others, justice and education. Josefina A. Ovalle believed that education was a key to opportunity and that everyone should have the right to fulfill their potential. To Chicagoland students with 3.5 GPA or higher in select areas only! Also, don't forget! The Nordstrom Scholarship application ($10,000 per year) is due May 15.

C3 Members! - The Illinois Conservation Foundation offers the Conservation Achievement Scholarship to promote the value of our natural world and encourage the next generation of leaders to engage in personal efforts to preserve and enhance a sustainable outdoor environment. This opportunity is available to outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated effective, voluntary, long-term dedication to the preservation, protection, enhancement and/or promotion of Illinois’ natural resources. 3 scholarships will be awarded for the 2010-2011 school year: one-time awards for $5,000; one for $3,000; and one for $2,000. Robert Cleveland and Ken Dodge Memorial Scholarship
Several $500 scholarships will be awarded to learning disabled high school seniors to continue their education in a two or four year college or university. (Do you have an IEP? Are you in Inclusion or Self-Contained class(es)) See Mr Carr for an application. Deadline 5/1/2010

2010 Psi U Scholarship Grant
Apply at www.illinipsiu.com by 9/20/2010. First place is $1750, Second Place is $250 and Third Place is $250. Open to incoming male freshmen attending University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign who exhibit the highest moral, intellectual and social excellence. Jean Paul Ohadi 2010 Scholarship
Qualifications: Outstanding gay and lesbian youth from the community with financial need and active leadership experience
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: April 30, 2010 (postmarked)

Offered by the Glenview organization PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays).

Triple Impact Competitor Scholarship 2010
Qualifications: Current high school juniors who are athletes with a minimum 2.5 GPA and exemplify the principles of personal mastery, team leadership and making the game better.
Amount: $1,000 Deadline: May 1, 2010

NEIU scholarship for students planning to major in Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, and Mathematics Merit-based scholarships of up to $10,000/year, for up to 4 years of college. In addition to the financial support, the scholarship program will provide students with a faculty mentor, peer mentors and research opportunities. The scholars will be part of a cohort of similarly motivated students who share their successes as well as challenges as they progress through their study. Visit the CCRC for details. University of Illinois Sigma Nu Fraternity Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship
Qualifications: incoming male freshman at U of I Urbana-Champaign; don‟t have to be a fraternity member to apply; award based on scholarship integrity and leadership.
Amount: $2500 Deadline: May 15, 2010

National Naval Officers Association (NNOA) Great Lakes Chapter – 2010 Scholarship Program
Qualifications: Graduating Lake County senior with 2.5 GPA, academic achievement, financial need, school and community involvement; no obligation to join the military.
Amount: $1,000 Deadline: May 15, 2010
Application Process: Essay requirement; application in the CCRC.

University of Illinois 2010 Psi U Scholarship Grant Program
Qualifications: incoming male freshmen at the U of Illinois Champaign-Urbana based on moral, intellectual and social excellence; not obligated to join the fraternity or show evidence of financial need

Lake Forest College Guaranteed $12,000 Scholarships for Illinois Residents
Qualifications: Illinois students entering Lake Forest College beginning in fall 2010 will be guaranteed this scholarship; all students can also apply for a talent-based scholarship and receive up to another $8,000.
Amount: $12,000 - $20,000
