Jack and Jill of America, Windy City Scholarship ($2,000 - Due March 28)

General Information
Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Windy City Chapter is pleased to announce Windy City Scholarship 2011, offering scholarship opportunities for African American seniors attending a high school in the City of Chicago.  The scholarship will be awarded to two qualified students; each $2,000 scholarship will be paid over four years in equal installments of $500.  Scholarships are intended for undergraduate college attendance, beginning in the fall of 2011, at a qualifying college or university.  All scholarship awards will be paid directly to the
recipient’s school.  

Eligibility African American high school seniors may apply for one of the following scholarships:
A. Academic Potential - Eligible students must have a cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 3.4 on a 4.0 scale. 
OR
B. Academic - Eligible students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.  An applicant must reside and attend a high school in the City of Chicago.   The recipient must attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the U.S. and remain in good standing during all years for which the scholarship is awarded.   

Components of the Application Package 1. Attached application, which includes a Personal Essay in response to one of the statements listed
in Section 3.  
2. Counselor certification, which must include an unofficial copy of your high school transcript.  
3. Personal reference letter of recommendation.

Application Deadline A complete application package must be submitted and postmarked no later than February 28, 2011 or the application will ineligible for consideration.  Applicants will be notified of their selection as a semi-finalist by the week of March 28, 2011 and interviews will be scheduled in April 2011.
